"Hockey. A sport where teammates are more than teammates, friends are more than friends. Brothers. Sisters. A community. It gives us the opportunity to turn a frozen pond into memories. A road tournament to into a family getaway. It's a tradition. It's a past time. It is our life."

Hockey- the sport played with the most passion and heart. Hockey- where teammates are brothers, and teams are families. Hockey-nothing but the puck matters. Hockey- a game we all come together and help one another in times of need. Hockey- development of life skills that are nourished and promoted on and off the ice.

Positions in Ice Hockey
Goalie: One of the toughest players on the team, the goalie is responsible for stopping any shots on net.
Defenseman: Having two on the ice, one on the left and one on the right, defense's main job is to make sure the other team does not get the opportunity to play the puck or score. Forwards: With an offensive mind, forwards are the ones scoring goals, with a typical forward line consisting of a right wing, left wing, and center. |

Goalies
Being a goaltender has a significantly different physical and mental demand than any other position in hockey. Goalies are the last line of defense from the other team scoring, and ultimately are the ones standing between a win or a loss. Kirk McLean, and NHL goalie says, "It is pretty tough for a goalie when you look at it. You're always the last line of defense. When you let in a goal, you can go back to the bench and hide between the guys or anything." Goalies are the backbone of a team; they are needed for play, need to be in peak physical condition, and need to be mentally strong. As Bertagna, a coach, would say "People think goalies are crazy, and I would joke that it’s more of an art than a science, but I would say that there is a lot of science to what we do.” |
The EnforcerAny true follower of hockey has heard of the enforcer. The player whose primary job is to protect his team and fight when need be. They are the ones who respond to the uncalled dirty plays that happen to their players and goalies. However, when a team has a well known enforcer, the opposing team will reduce dirty plays in order to avoid the enforcer. But the enforcer is a dying position, most teams not having one today, but their legacy continues to live on.
